Destiny 2

Bungie

Technically, Destiny 2 ended with its final Monument of Triumph update, its last true content addition after it was announced the game was reaching end-of-service after nearly eight years. But an addendum to that was that all support for the game, short of servers being shut off, was over. That endpoint is today, in what will be the last hotfix in Destiny 2 history, barring anything utterly catastrophic.

The patch was delayed due to the mass layoffs that cut hundreds of devs and essentially the entire Destiny 2 team, including contractors who were supposed to be testing and implementing it. But it did make it out in the end, perhaps with no wild changes, but a few last fixes that needed addressing. And so far as we know, this is it, forever.

What was added in the hotfix? Here’s a rundown of the patch notes:

That’s…it. I mean, that’s a lot, given the decimation that Bungie just went through, but as you can see, it’s not exactly everything ailing the game. Even if there could be more dire emergency bug fixes, we will get no more balance patches for gear or weapons, no more quality of life changes. That is over now. Everything is over, in effect.

Still, players are playing. And I have a feeling many will be for a long, long time.
