GTA 6 Leaks Keep Spilling In Defiance of Rockstar's 'Heartbreaking' Response

Cyberleek is moving into spoiler territory a day ahead of Netflix's extended GTA 6 look

On Wednesday morning, Rockstar Games finally broke the silence on the ongoing Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks at the hands of a hacking group called Cyberleek. The developer called the situation "heartbreaking" and said the unauthorized, unpolished clips were not how the studio intended the world to learn about GTA 6. Merely an hour after Rockstar addressed fans, and a day ahead of Netflix's extended reveal, Cyberleek has shared yet another video of GTA 6.

In it, game co-protagonist Jason breaks the window of a car and pulls the driver out, then proceeds to cruise around in the stolen vehicle. The clip ends with a look at a cutscene featuring Lucia Caminos, GTA 6's other major playable character. Up until this point, Lucia had been missing from all the videos — leading some to speculate the hackers had not progressed far into the game. The Lucia cutscene only lasts a few seconds, and it appears to take place inside a bar.

Despite the leak's tame nature, it reflects Cyberleek's continued brazen attitude toward Rockstar. Prior to the latest leak, the hacking group threatened the company with more leaks unless the GTA 6 publisher reversed its decision to release the game without a physical disc. The group continued to share more rough gameplay clips of the unreleased game, some of which came across like thinly-veiled jabs at Rockstar.

The group's mockery at the studio worsened in late August, when Cyberleek encouraged fans to visit Rockstar's or Take-Two's offices as a protest against the controversial decision to release GTA 6 without a physical disc. Though Rockstar did not share any details regarding security measures for the threat, at least a couple of people followed Cyberleek's call and showed up with a vegetable in hand.

Is Cyberleek sharing GTA 6 story spoilers?

The newest leak may also signal a more serious information breach from the hacking group. So far, most footage shown has been impressive but random. The hackers have mostly refrained from sharing any story spoilers. With Netflix's extended look only a day away, the hacking group's ability to command attention as the sole purveyor of GTA 6 gameplay is almost entirely gone. Sharing story spoilers would be one way of ensuring that Cyberleek stays visible to the public — if not increase the group's chances of monetizing the crypto coin attached to this whole mess.

The latest leak urges viewers to raise the crypto coin's trading volume to $50 million. If reached, Cyberleek promises to share footage of the hackers driving through the densely-populated beach areas with a bus. As of this writing, 15 separate clips of GTA 6 have been leaked. The number of leaks is significantly smaller than the 50 GTA 6 videos that were leaked in 2023. The audacious nature of the most recent breach, and Rockstar's inability to curtail the leaks, have given the situation a more notorious reputation.
