Two books highlighting the making of Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic The Odyssey are being produced by Insight Editions for late summer and fall releases.

Written and directed by Nolan and starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, The Odyssey opened in theaters last weekend and earned $123.5 million domestically. Combined with its international receipts, made $264 million worldwide July 17-19. Through Tuesday, the film has earned nearly $163.7 million and $164.1 million overseas for a running global tally of $327.8 million.

The Odyssey, of course, chronicles Odysseus’ perilous, post-Trojan War journey home to Ithaca to reunite with his wife, Queen Penelope (Anne Hathaway), and their son, Prince Telemachus. The film’s massive ensemble cast also features Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Samantha Morton, Lupita Nyong’o, Elliott Page, Himesh Patel, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Corey Hawkins, Mia Goth, James Remar and the voice of Bill Irwin.

As fans continue to go to turn out in droves to see The Odyssey in conventional theaters, IMAX and premium large format venues, Insight Editions is prepping for the release of the books Filming the Odyssey: Inside the Making of Christopher Nolan’s Modern Epic and The World of the Odyssey: A Visual Journey.

Insight Editions is releasing The Odyssey books in conjunction with Universal Pictures and Nolan’s Syncopy production company, and both will be available online and in bookstores. Filming the Odyssey: Inside the Making of Christopher Nolan’s Modern Epic will be released on Aug. 25 and retails for $75, while The World of the Odyssey: A Visual Journey will come out sometime in September and retails for $29.99.

According to Insight Editions, Barnes & Noble will be offering an exclusive edition of Filming the Odyssey: Inside the Making of Christopher Nolan’s Modern Epic that features a special cover design.

What Does Each Book About ‘The Odyssey’ Contain?

According to Insight Editions, Filming the Odyssey: Inside the Making of Christopher Nolan’s Modern Epic is authored by James Mottram and features a foreword by Matt Damon.

The hardcover book, which is 280 pages, gives an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the making of the critically acclaimed film from script to screen and features interviews with Christopher Nolan and his cast and crew. In addition, the book highlights visuals from the critically acclaimed film, including on-set photos, concept art and research materials.

Also authored by Mottram, The World of the Odyssey: A Visual Journey acts as a visual guide to the movie. The hardcover, 144-page book highlights character profiles, key locations and items, as well as pivotal moments in the film.

The World of the Odyssey: A Visual Journey also includes exclusive quotes from Nolan and his cast and crew, while the final chapter in the book explains some of the movie magic that went into the making of the film.
